Taken from a 1901 Supplement to The (Illiopolis) State Center Record

JAMES A. INGLE, Cigar Manufacturer.

Smokers throughout this section look with favor and preference on “Trilby” and “Old Dave,” two well known brands of cigars made by Mr. James A. Ingle, of Illiopolis. Mr. Ingle is a native of Licking County, Ohio, and in 1858 came to Sangamon County with his parents and took up a residence in Illiopolis where he has since resided. For many years he followed the occupation of brick molding, but in 1893 became interested in the business of cigar making, learned the trade and soon acquired expertness. This is demonstrated by his productions which are up to the best standards in quality and workmanship, and continue constantly in active demand. Mr. Ingle is among the popular citizens of Illiopolis, and has a host of friends in Illiopolis and the surrounding section.
